This Italian translation of Pushkin’s poetry collection is edited by the State Library of Foreign Literature in Moscow and presented for the first time in Florence, in the prestigious frame of Gabinetto Vieusseux. This location was chosen because of its vital role in linking the culture of Italy with that of other European countries since 1819. The presentation is accompanied by the exposition "Pushkin and his epoch", dedicated to the life and works of the great poet and the impact of the epoch upon forming his personality and his literary genius. The Exhibition is aimed at demonstrating Pushkin's life and works in the historical-cultural context.

Poetry readings by students of Russian language at Università degli Studi di Pisa

19.30 Historic Ball in the Gran-Ducal Ballroom
Villa del Poggio Imperiale, Piazzale del Poggio Imperiale 1

Participants will have the opportunity to visit this magnificent neoclassical Villa with its turbolent history. Then the Grand Ball re-creating the atmosphere of a St. Petersburg Ball, with reference to the period of Tchaikovsky's premiere of "Eugen Onegin" in 1879. Waltzes, polkas, mazurkas, gallops and quadrilles will be danced in the Granducal Ballroom. The evening will be lead by M° Donald Francis, historical dance expert and Director of Atelier de Danse. Period cotume or evening dress required.

At 22.30 a Russian Buffet will be offered. The organization is by “Unione Regionale Cuochi Toscani” (Union of Tuscany’s Chefs)

The Grand Ball will end at midnight.
